Large and small-scale ceramic vessels and shards make up Alison Brannen’s uniquely beautiful collection of saggar fired “burnt offerings.” Cracked and sometimes shattered by the firing process, Brannen uses the Japanese gold repair method of Kintsugi to mend the vessels. Highlighting the evidence of damage and repair speaks to a process of hope and healing for a broken world.

Alison Brannen has exhibited her work at the the Fusion Clay and Glass Show, Art Gallery of Burlington, The Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery in Waterloo, Oeno Gallery in Prince Edward County, and Craft Ontario, among other galleries. Also an accomplished painter and printmaker, Brannen teaches pottery and Kintsugi workshops in her downtown Toronto studio.
